Multi-app cell
Context & Background
- Standard process thermosetting tapes application is usually manual
- High risk of labor error
- Low part design flexibility
Our Goals
Technical: Finding method to applicate tape on three-dimensional parts, permits constancy and uniformity to reduce cycle time.
Commercial: Reduce total part cost
Our Concept
Flock tape application Technology on a glass-window piece by automation using the "heat bonding“ process. A robot head application utilizes hot air simultaneously projected onto the workpiece and the "flock" tape until reaching the optimum temperature, thereby allowing a uniform bonding without degradation of a sealing part. Using multiple adjustment parameters, such as speed, the contact pressure, tape tension and guidance before application.
Results & Client Benefits
- Increase precision application up to 25%
- High part design flexibility (application on tri-dimensional part)
- Cell adaptable for other kind of application (laser, notching, high frequency cutter, plasma treatment..)
