Opening a second facility in Mexico

Our marketing team has closely followed worldwide trends and challenges linked to the automotive industry. Our forecasts have certainly turned out to be correct vis-à-vis expanding business opportunities in Mexico. This has been trending for the last 5 years and we shrewdly profited from this growth by sharing the talent and expertise of MI Integration in foreign countries. In fact, in 2011 SLP MI Integración became our first plastic injection site in a foreign country, opening its doors in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in an industrial sector with a population of around 800,000. Since then, we landed several major contracts during its first year in operation, notably for the Ford Fusion and the Chevrolet Malibu. Today the success of SLP MI Integración is undeniable. With a growth rate that is considerably greater than our North American neighbours, it goes without saying that Mexico is one of the most sought-out countries for the automotive industry today. Among other things, this explains the nearly 32% increase in SLP MI Integración profit since 2011.

Expanding production capacity became a necessity due to increasing client demand, and MI Integración saw an opportunity to expand its range of services in Mexico. The winning synergy of these two Canadian manufacturers completely inspired MI Integración in its increased development. Experiencing resounding success, the group chose to combine the Canadian business model with Mexican realism. 5 years after its debut in Mexico, the group opened the doors to its new service center. SLP MI Moldes is dedicated to the manufacture of molds and dies. “Opportunities are abundant, and this fully justifies our presence in Mexico”, declared Vincent Houle, VP of Strategy and Client Relations.

The construction of SLP MI Moldes began in January 2016 and ended 9 months later. The various entities of the MI group worked together to construct the factory and implement the employee training plan. Some Mexican employees actually began their training at Moules Industriel, in Quebec. As soon as the machinery was installed, expert training instructors were also on site. Following the announcement of the Centre’s opening, our clients — along with our automobile parts manufacturers — were highly enthused by the idea of initiating their projects. “A multidisciplinary team is currently assisting to start-up the first projects, ensuring compliance to quality standards from MI Integration”, said Marie-Claude Houle, VP of Operations.

On December 1, 2016 we will celebrate 5 years of SLP MI Integración and the inauguration of SLP MI Moldes. Because of this, an “open house” day at our facility will be organized for our clients, suppliers and partners. Also, on December 3, 2016, we will invite our employees’ families to come and celebrate, as a symbol of our gratitude for their contribution in recent years.

MI Integration still remains abreast of the latest trends and market requirements, opening doors to great business opportunities in an imminent future.
